One of Greg’s businesses that are dedicated to giving back is named after him and it has been doing an amazing job so far. This organization is named the Greg Secker Foundation. This Foundation is a non profit organization. In the organization Greg mentors kids and teen to lead them in the right direction. Greg also takes the kids and teens inside the group with him on projects where they give back to people.

For Greg, giving back is a choice that he had decided to do for himself to have a better quality of life. Giving back is a lifestyle for Greg and it is something that he cannot and won’t stop doing. Greg has been working on a project to help build homes in Capinahan, Lemery, Iloilo for people who were affected by typhoon. With this project, more than 100 homes will be built in a short period of time. The typhoon was a tropical storm that happened last month in the Capinahan. The storm was very powerful and ended up killing hundreds of people. Some people were fortunate enough to survive the storm; however, some people lost their homes from the storm.

Nonito Donaire will be joining Greg Secker in this mission to build more than 100 homes for all of the people who were affected by the storm. If you aren’t aware, Nonito Donaire is a famous world champion boxer who is not a stranger to giving back. When Nonito Donaire’s career first began he donated $1 million dollars to people who were in need. This act of kindness was not over looked, because at the time, Nonito did not have much money, he just wanted to help as much as he could. Nevertheless, these two have joined together to rebuild Capinahan. Many people are grateful for these men helping the country in this time of need!

Betsy DeVos Speaks Softly but Fights for Education Reforms

The U.S. Senate narrowly confirmed Betsy DeVos as the U.S. Secretary of Education under President Donald Trump. Critics said that DeVos lacked experienced working directly in public education. They said she fumbled an answer about allowing guns in schools to fight grizzly bears in rural locations. Despite the critics, DeVos secured the confirmation and took her office ready to fight for change in U.S. education.

The change came quickly as one of DeVos’ first moves was to rescind a policy regarding transgender students that Obama put into place in his last weeks in office. Obama’s policy regarded transgender students and bathroom use. Under the policy, students can choose what bathroom to use based on their gender identity. Therefore, a student who identifies as male may use the male bathroom. A student who identifies as female uses the female bathroom. DeVos rescinded the policy on a federal level.

Even though she rescinded the policy, DeVos took the time to meet with a person that speaks for transgender and gay employees at the U.S. Department of Education before she announced the policy shift. She wanted them to know about the change before they found out about it from the media. An aide said that DeVos didn’t want to take on the policy shift. She said that she got her marching order from the Trump administration.

However, DeVos hasn’t said publicly that she disagrees with the policy shift. In fact, she has said the opposite. She says that the original policy was too much and too far. She told an audience at the Conservative Political Action Conference that the Obama administration policy gave too much direction to the states and local school boards that can create their own policy.

DeVos’ stint as the U.S. Secretary of Education is hardly her first venture into trying to influence education policy. DeVos has a long history of advocating for education changes in her home state of Michigan. DeVos and her family have spearheaded efforts for school choice and school vouchers in the state. They were not able to convince taxpayers in the state to adopt a school voucher system. Her family has also supported local education efforts in the West Michigan area. They’ve financially supported charter schools like Potter’s House Christian School and the West Michigan Aviation Academy that’s housed at the Grand Rapids International Airport.

The DeVos family made their money from their success in multilevel marketing companies like Amway and Quixtar. The companies were co-founded by DeVos’ father-in-law, Richard DeVos. The family has used their wealth to support the arts and other civic programs in West Michigan. Their funds have built entertainment and convention center DeVos place and the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.

DeVos grew up in Holland, Michigan. Her family still has property there. Her brother is Erick Prince, the founder of military defense powerhouse Blackwater USA. DeVos studied business economics at Calvin College. She earned her degree in 1979. While at Calvin, DeVos met future husband Dick DeVos. Her father-in-law, Richard DeVos, boasts a net worth of approximately $5 billion. Learn more: http://www.betsydevos.com/

Self-Driving Cars and Delivery are Teaming up For a New Experience

Now more than ever, it’s become easier for people to get things delivered right to their doorstep. No longer do people have to go grocery shopping, hit up the mall, or even venture to a restaurant for food. It seems that society is loving the luxury of having things delivered right to their doorstep. This industry doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon, in fact, it continues to grow. More and more of these “on demand” services are popping up, especially when it comes to food delivery.

Postmates is a relatively new app and website which allows you to order from popular restaurants throughout their city. Someone then picks up the order and delivers it right to your doorstep. You don’t ever have to leave your house. Postmates is trying to compete with other big-name delivery services like UberEats and GrubHub. Sometimes, they struggle. It seems, however, that help is on the way for them.

According to TechCrunch, Postmates is now partnering with Ford to test out a self-driving delivery service. It’s great news for both companies. This delivery service will help Postmates make a name for itself, get deliveries out quicker and easier, and more. There is even talk that brick-and-mortar restaurant locations could benefit from this service too. The platform is set to be launched later this year.

This program will allow Postmates and Ford integrate together to see how everything from user interface to customer experience will play out. The ultimate goal is that a pristine on-demand delivery service stems from this. This won’t be the last partnership between the two. If all goes off without a hitch, there will be more to come. So is this the future of delivery and technology? It definitely seems so. With more self-driving cars being tested it was only a matter of time until the delivery services got in on this. There are still a lot of questions floating around this partnership and many who order delivery wonder how things will change for them. Will there be a price increase? A longer or shorter wait time? It will be interesting to see. In the meantime, Ford will continue to own and operate its own fleet of self-driving vehicles but they will continue these partnerships to see how they can better serve society.

New Form of Technology Teaches Users to Have Healthy Debates

It’s no secret that in today’s society, people just love to debate. It almost seems like it’s a cornerstone of life. Friends debate among each other when they’re out in public settings. Family dinners, especially during holidays, can turn into somewhat of a heated debate. When it comes to online, conversations among strangers in comment sections even turn into debates. Perhaps, society is becoming more vocal as a whole. There’s also the fact that heated topics are coming to light. Whatever the reason, there’s now an app to help those who just love to debate.

According to TechCrunch, the new app is called Micgoat and it just launched in the app store. It can be debated whether or not this app is just another way to bring society together or tear us further apart with arguments. Micgoat allows users to debate whatever topic they feel in their heart. All a person has to do is upload a short video, one minute or less, about whatever they’d like to chat about. It can be a hot-button issue in the news like Bitcoin or something silly in their own personal life. After they upload the video, others can chime in with 30-second videos. The original poster can again respond.

There is some positive with this new form of technology. It encourages face to face conversations instead of having people hide behind a username online. It seems that Micgoat will also open important topics of conversation that need to be had. If used properly, this could be a great learning tool. I can see schools that have debate clubs use this app as practice. The creators of this new app feel that debating is healthy. They want it done in the correct way where people can see each other face to face. This humanizes another person and really helps you connect with them and what they have to say. The end goal of the app is that those debating have some closure, have seen something in a new light, and have learned how to have a healthy conversation. This app seems to be taking a direct stab at “internet trolls” who like to leave their opinions in places with no real substance to back it up. In this app, if you have something to say, you better put your all into it.

A New Form of Technology Can Save Lives During Fires

As time goes on, technology seems to advance more and more every day. It’s not always for the better. Sometimes the latest advancements are trivial things that we don’t really need such as another smartphone or camera. That’s why it’s always a welcome sight when a new form of technology comes out that actually does some good in the world. There’s a new gadget on the market and it’s simplistic but could save countless lives.

What many people don’t know is that during a fire you should shut doors in your home, if possible to do so safely. Shutting doors is a simple way that you can stop the spread of a fire. When people find themselves in a fire, however, this is not something they think of. Either panic takes over, they’re more concerned about saving their family, they don’t have time, or they simply don’t know. Luckily, there’s now a gadget that can help families survive a fire more safely than before.

According to TechCrunch, the little gadget is called LifeDoor and it’s installed in the hinge of a door. When the gadget detects smoke in a home, it slams the door shut. It’s simple, genius, and safe. The idea was dreamed up by a firefighter who went out to purchase an item similar only to find out that such a product did not exist. There is a push to have LifeDoor installed in every home in order to keep families safe. LifeDoor even comes with a second alarm in case someone misses the first alert from their smoke detector. These little gadgets also have a pretty long battery life, lasting roughly a year and a half. Some people argued that what if someone would get stuck in a room once the door shuts? LifeDoor stated that wouldn’t happen. The door would be no more difficult to push than it is already.

The LifeDoor gadget is available for purchase online through their website. As the popularity continues to grow, they may make it available at stores and fire departments. There are also other big changes planned for this gadget. The creator is homing to partner with smart technology to alert families to whether or not anyone is inside of the room where the fire originated.

Cancer Treatment Centers of America Offering Hope and Cancer Information

Getting a cancer diagnosis is frightening for the patient and their concerned family members. While cancer is still a leading cause of death, Cancer Treatment Centers of America is there to offer hope and current cancer information. One of the biggest detriments to someone beating the disease into remission is still the length of time that a cancer is present before an accurate diagnosis is made. CTCA is committed to getting current, accurate and informative cancer care details, treatment options, research advances and supportive measures out to the public. Recently, CTCA decided to join together with the long established medical information website of WebMD to hopefully reach even more patients through the medium of the Internet.

This move makes perfect sense for many reasons. More younger individuals get the majority of their news and other information by way of their computers or smart phones. This is typically where these people also look for answers to their medical questions. WebMD is able to take highly technical medical language from healthcare providers like Cancer Treatment Centers of America and format an article overview in easy language that anyone can read and understand. CTCA has provided this Internet website with many intriguing details on cancer topics.

Much of the medical information that ends up on the Internet can be grossly misguided and wrong. This inaccurate information concerns healthcare professionals on the front lines in cancer care. By putting out useful, up-to-date and highly accurate medical and cancer care information on a reliable website known for being trustworthy, Cancer Treatment Centers of America hopes to engage more individuals curious on cancer topics. CTCA knows firsthand how often newly diagnosed patients and worried family members and friends find out further details about cancer then the little that they currently know. Accurate medical articles on cancer related topics can spur more people to speak with a local family doctor.

It is important that those with cancer retain hope. Every day, healthcare providers that specialize in cancer learn new ways to fight this awful disease. There are always new clinical trials with new drugs and treatments going on. Also, research on cancer is also ongoing. New developments arise swiftly. Cancer treatment and understanding today is far better than the care of bygone decades. More cancer patients are living out their lives longer with newer treatments that are often less harsh. CTCA still leads the cancer education fight.

‘It Just Makes Sense’ to Replace Employees With Automated Machines, says Fast-Food CEO

Jack in the Box CEO, Leonard Comma spoke at the ICR Conference Tuesday morning in Grande Lakes, Orlando, Florida. The ICR Conference is known as one of the most premier investment conferences in the world. Held annually, it sports industry leaders from many professional industries, sharing insights on current purchasing and financial trends.

As the minimum wage rises in states like California, Jack in the Box is considering replacing some employees with programmed robots. During his presentation, Comma said, “As we see the rising costs of labor, it just makes sense” to implement cost-effective technologies.

In the past, Jack in the box has used touchscreen kiosks at select stores. Although it increased the price of the average sale, the cost was too high at the time to justify widespread use.

Increasing Minimum Wage

At the ICR Conference, Mr. Comma discussed that California is soon to be the first state to enact a $15 minimum wage. He mentions that this change brings back automated checkout machines to the discussion table.

Californian is not the only state increasing the minimum wage. Eighteen other states including New York and Colorado are seeing significant increases to $10+ per hour.

The idea of replacing expensive labor with cheaper automation is not a new topic, many other companies have discussed the possibility of reducing labor cost. This raises concerns for everyone involved as this is the first serious discussions of enabling technology to replace cashier jobs on a widespread scale. Restaurants including Mc’Donalds, Wendy’s, and Pizza Hut have all considered an automated workforce in one way or another.

Economic Impact

America and other developed countries are seeing more and more of these kinds of changes, both increases in minimum wage and labor automation. This brings about many questions as to whether or not increasing the minimum wage helps more people than it hurts. If the market cannot afford the more expensive labor, then more jobs will be lost to automation. In turn, this will reduce the number of people participating in the market and buying goods.

Rethinking rallying in Brazil with Michel Terpins.

The Terpins family is one of the legendary sporting families in Brazil they are well known in this circles for the strides they have been able to make and achieve milestones that have seen them become champions in different sports. The older Terpin, Jack was a basketball player back in the day when he represented his club and played up to club championship level. His sons would follow his steps in sports even though they did not go into basketball. This was one of the dreams of their father that one day they would become engaged in sports and hopefully be in a position to experience the joy thrill and appreciation for sports that he had experienced over the years. His love for sports was not just for the thrill but for the ability of sports to open doors and opportunities to a better life. Sports had seen Jack appointed by the president to head them in the country. He had also gotten other leadership responsibilities within the community as a direct response to his endeavors in sports.

Michel Terpin was now following these footsteps when he moved his talents to the cross country championship. Here he displayed a finesse and zeal rarely seen in young competitors. He wanted to get out of the shadow of his father and prove once and for all that he was capable of following after him while charting his own course. It was, therefore, no surprise when he began ascending to the top in various competitions. His was a journey that would culminate in him winning the championship. This marked his stay at the top and by the time of his departure he was the champion. He became so good that at the time he left he was elected to chair the board that oversaw the cross country championship within Brazil.

He would then turn his efforts to rallying where he connected with his brother Rodrigo. Rodrigo was already doing spectacularly well already but was humble enough to mentor his brother and in a few years, they were in charge of there own team the Bull Sertões Rally Team.
