App Helps Fight Sexual Assault

There are more resources available today for people who have suffered sexual assault. There is also an app that can be used in order combat sexual assault. The vast majority of people who are a victim of sexual assault do not report it. RAINN is the largest anti-sexual assault network in the United States. The organization has stated that two out of three sexual assaults are not reported.

The name of the new app is JDoe. People will be able to anonymously report sexual assault. They will also be able to help police officers identify repeat offenders. The creators of JDoe have stated that they want users to know that they have total control over the app.

Many advocacy groups have expressed concerns about the app. They stated that they are worried that people will use the app instead of going to the police. Victoria Pickering is the Director of Advocacy for MOCSA. She stated that it is always a good thing when people have resources that can help.

There are also universities that have been trying to make it easier for people to report sexual assault. Jayme Uden is the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs at Park University. She stated that they want to prevent repeat incidences of sexual assault. She believes that providing people with the resources that they need to report sexual assault will cut down on the incidences of it.

Officers in Jackson, MO have stated that they have reported that rape cases are being reported more often. Even though this app can help, officers have stated that it is important for people to get to the police as soon as possible. This will preserve the evidence.
