Jeremy Goldstein Makes Room at the Table for Fountain House

Jeremy Goldstein has hosted two wine dinners with the help of Jim Finkel and Omar Khan which raised 56,000 dollars for a professional self-help program called Fountain House. Fountain House is a non profit dedicated to supporting men and women with mental illness.

Recognizing that mental illness may prevent people from keeping jobs, getting their education, keeping relationships, maintaining their finances, and taking care of themselves, Fountain House provides people with mental illnesses who are its members with opportunities to live, work and learn while also supporting their community with their talents.

Jeremy Goldstein is a member of Fountain House’s Board of Directors and helps lead the non profit. Fountain House accomplishes its goals in many ways. One way is through communal mental health programs that operate all around New York City. Another way is by developing innovating programs that are based on reseach and shared knowledge about recovery from people’s mental illnesses.

They also collaborate with local and global community members in order to inspire and teach the Fountain House model so they can spread it to international organizations and they advocate their cause of helping people who are living with serious mental illness in general to improve perceptions and practices. Sadly, overall 85% of people who are living with mental illnesses don’t have a job but the Fountain House Employment program has an employment rate of 42% for its members and who earn 2 million dollars each year working for over 40 companies throughout New York City. Fountain House has impressive numbers in other areas too. Fountain House members have a 77% sucess rate at completing their education versus a 32% sucess rate for the general population, they are rehospitalized at a rate of 10% versus 50% for the general population, and while 40% of the 50,000 homeless people in New York City are people living with a mental illness, 99% of Fountain House members have housing.

The Fountain House model is so successful it has 300 locations located in 32 states and 30 countries around the world. It also serves over 100,000 people who are living with a mental illness around the globe.

Jeremy Goldstein also runs his own firm Jeremy L. Goldstein and Associates LLC which is a boutique law firm which provides guidance for CEOs, management teams, and compensation committees of corporations to help them with compensation and corporate governance.
