Is Facebook Spying On Your Conversations With Latest Form Of Advertising Technology?

It seems like almost everyone these days has a Facebook. Dogs, grandmothers, and everyone in between are creating profiles on the popular social media site. With so many users and so much information being shared, some people begin to wonder about the safety of it all. Afterall, Facebook seems to know more about you than your family might even know. When does Facebook cross the line of what they do with that information?

It’s no secret that advertisements will pop up on your Facebook, and they will be geared at something you’ve searched for recently. This may be anything from a type of product you bought to the browsing for car insurance that you may have been doing. That’s because Facebook works with advertisers and has been known to sell information to them. Surprisingly, that hasn’t been cause for concern. Now, there are some accusations that Facebook is taking technology too far, and it’s freaking people out.

According to Reddit, many people are coming forward to say that Facebook is listening in on conversations via a mobile microphone. People came to this conclusion after they remembered having conversations with friends or family and then seeing an advertisement pop up that they were just talking about. It’s enough to freak anyone out! Facebook has denied any form of spying. Recently, a worker for Facebook took to Twitter to deny using user’s microphones to come out with targeted advertisements. Many are then left to wonder if it’s just a weird coincidence or if technology really is that advanced and there’s something Facebook is not telling us.

Many believe that it’s just coincidental when they’re talking about something obscure, only to have it show up a few minutes later. Facebook has even confirmed that technically they have the technology to accompany this. That’s because Facebook has a feature that allows users to opt-in so that Facebook can listen to music and television playing in order to help a user create a better status. The company says this is never used for advertising.

At the end of the day, many are siding with Facebook. They say that it’s hard to imagine a company would just throw everything away to use this advanced form of advertising technology. Time will tell if Facebook will eventually utilize this technology in the future.

Galaxy Note 8 Slated for August Release

Samsung has made it official. According to CNet, the mobile giant will be rolling out its next giant phone and then hope and pray the exploding that’s going on is sales. The Galaxy Note 8 is slated for an August release and the company will be looking to put the disaster of the Note 7 behind it when the new Phablet launches.

The company allowed for the mention of the Galaxy Note 8 but then clammed up when it came time to give any details. What we do know is that this will be the first big test as to whether or not the company has actually fixed the issue it was running into when it came to an exploding battery.

There are other design flaws analysts are hoping Samsung will fix with this latest release. The company has released a kind of fingerprint scanner that is similar to what the iPhones offer. The problem so far, has been when those scanners are released, they tended to be above the glass.

This allowed them to get dirty and to scratch and would then stop working. Considering the scanners were used to unlock the phone and handle mobile payments, that became more than a small problem. Of course, there were ways to unlock the phone using a code, but that made the point of having the finger print scanner at all rather pointless.

Samsung is going to have to hit it out of the park, because they will have steep competition, especially in late August. Apple is expected to be rolling out its 10th-anniversary phone and most expect there to be some serious bells and whistles attached. Until either phone is officially announced, we’re going to have to wait and see just what the companies have decided to offer up to the public.

The Osteo Relief Institute Great Works in the Health Sector

Osteoarthritis (OA) is defined as a degenerative disease of the joints. It can also be referred to as degenerative arthritis. In summary, it refers to all joint conditions that experience pain. There are over 100 types and the condition is affecting a sum of over 50 million Americans. It can affect both genders but is more common to women than men. It can also be considered as the primary source of disability in the world.

It mainly occurs when the cartilage, a strong-rubber material in the joints that covers both ends of every bone breaks down, causing swelling, pain, and problems when it comes to moving the joint. The cartilage acts as a smooth cushion between bones. When they break down, spurs are produced which end up floating around the joints. Spurs are growths that swell after the bones break down. Through inflammatory, enzymes and proteins develop and they further destroy the cartilage. Finally, it wears away making bones to rub against each other causing more joint injuries and severe pain (http://www.edgewaterosteoreliefinstitute.com/)

The main causes of osteoarthritis are hereditary. Other sources include being overweight, previous injuries, and old age, especially people who are about 65 years. The disadvantage is that there is no cure to treat it, but there are ways to manage the pain and swelling. This can be achieved through medical treatments, therapy, daily exercise, and routine. Excessive pain and swelling may finally lead one to undergo surgery to execute its removal. The operations include joint fusions, repair, and replacements.

How Monitors Are Improving Entertainment and Technology

There have been a lot of changes to the entertainment industry. For one thing, the technology for watching movies and playing games always involved one aspect ratio. As a result, if there is anything that has been produced for a different ratio, then it has to either be cropped or letterboxed. As a result, there has been some confusion and disappointment in the results. Now, Samsung has been at work in bringing tons of innovation to people. For one thing, they have come up with different shapes of monitors beyond the 16:9 aspect ratio. They have brought forth 21:9, 2.4:1, and now 32:9.

These monitors come with a lot of good potential for entertainment. For one thing, it is no longer necessary to put up with those annoying black bars. This also encourages producers of games and movies to experiment with alternate aspect ratios. They no longer have to deal with the complaints of black bars from customers that just want to have their screens filled. Customers are also going to be made aware of different options for aspect ratios. This makes it really fun for people who may want to have different options for entertainment.

While these monitors are amazing to look at, it is highly unlikely that these monitors are going to be translated to televisions. HDTVs are going to maintain their 16:9 ratio for a long time to come. Another thing that is makes these monitors unique is that they have a slightly higher resolutions than UHD televisions. They are a bit closer to theatrical 4K as opposed to the home version of 4K. Therefore, as technology develops, people will eventually get to see how powerful these items can be.

Samsung Brings Forth A New Aspect Ratio For Computer Monitors

While people are marveling at the change in aspect ratios for TVs, Samsung has been releasing a lot of new monitors of different aspect ratios for computers. The computer world already has TVs beat with the new 21:9 sets which are roughly the shape of CinemaScope theater screens. Now, Samsung has released two new aspect ratios. One is the 2.4:1 monitor and the staggering 32:9 monitor. The 32:9 monitor is the widest that one is going to get. To make things even better, the screens are curved for the monitors which give it a cinematic quality.

Customers are initially going to use it for gaming. However, there are other uses for it. For one thing, this gives people the chance to watch some of their favorite movies in their full aspect ratio without having to put up with black bars that come with letterboxing. However, as with the movie theaters, some movies are going to be in a smaller aspect ratio and will appear in the middle of the screen with black bars on the side of the image. For the 2.4:1 screen, some films will not have black bars. However, the 32:9 device is going to always have black bars on the side because there are no films that have been shot in that ratio. However, it is exciting to watch even ultra wide movies and experience the full effect of 70MM spectacles like How The West Was Won.

One of the best things about these different aspect ratios is that it is allowing more room for art. As one would know, many paintings are shown in a wide variety of aspect ratios. The attempts to make everything uniform is rather criminal.

Internet Streaming Is Gaining More Customers from Cable

Among the changes that this society is undergoing is in the entertainment industry. For one thing, it used to be cable that was considered one of the premium ways to get entertainment. As a matter of fact, there was a point when the choices that people had were signals from the airwaves, cable television and then the relatively new satellite television. However, the internet has eventually brought forth something better. This is streaming services. This has gotten people to make the switch at a steady rate. For one thing, internet streaming has brought forth a lot of advantages that people have come to enjoy.

Among the advantages that people are able to enjoy are more options with the shows. Among the options that people have is the episodes of their chosen shows they can watch and the time they can watch them. When one compares this to having to wait until a certain time slot to watch any episode, this is one of the major advantages that people can hope for with internet streaming.

Another aspect of internet streaming businesses that beat out all of the cable TV businesses is the customer service. A lot of customers are not happy with the service that is given to them from cable companies. However, internet streaming has a much improved customer service. For one thing, people could reach the service provider through phone, email, or other means. It is no wonder people prefer services from mobile providers and internet streaming service.

All of the shows that are on cable TV are available for the internet. As a matter of fact, the internet also has a ton of exclusive shows. Therefore, when people are faced with dropping one service for another, they are more likely to drop the cable services. As a matter of fact, cable is obsolete. Even satellite TV is having a hard time keeping up with the services that are offered by internet streaming services.

New AI Venture Capital Program Reportedly Launched by Google

Recent reports indicate has launched a venture capital division that focuses on artificial intelligence. TechCrunch reports the new division will be run by Anna Patterson, who is a longtime vice president of engineering at Google. The program will include a cast of engineers instead of Google’s traditional cast of venture investors. It is no surprise that Google plans to build a venture capital program based on the company’s CEO recent announcement it will become “AI first” instead of “mobile first.”

Google introduced new processing unit chips that engineers promise will train AI faster for businesses and researchers. The company also announced at the I/O Developers Conference that its virtual personal assistant, Google Assistant, will become more conversational. The new development also plays into the hands of the company’s recent acquisition of Kaggle, a software platform that hosts machine learning and data science competitions.

Reports indicate that Google’s new AI venture capital arm will work separately from its investment organization, Google Ventures. The new program aims to target AI startups and to offer mentorship from some of the company’s best people in its AI department. Some entrepreneurs are wary of Google’s foray into AI corporate venture capital, thinking the company may be biting off more than it can chew. However, tech experts are quick to point out that Google is an industry giant and is a powerhouse in AI research and development.

Insiders and Outsiders of a Internet Entity

There is a fine line between an online entity and its clients. In spite of rising familiarity with the dangers postured by clients with advantages for consents, most associations still permit a heap of inward and outward gatherings to get to their most profitable frameworks and information. Many are setting trust in both workers and outsiders without reliable methods for overseeing, controlling, and observing the struggles that these people, groups, and associations need to work with basic frameworks and systems. Reports see insider dangers and outsider dangers to be independent and unmistakable issues. On account of outsider dangers, a review found the quantity of merchants of an organization’s system to have multiplied in only one year to a total of 181. Every week and every month, two in three organizations have encountered an information rupture in light of unsecured seller. It is no big surprise that more cybercriminals are seeing outsiders as a door into an organization’s system. Insiders give an alternate sort of info since they need to have some system access with a specific end goal to play out their employment obligations.

However, it’s their practices that have security faculty concerned. It just takes one worker to leave an association helpless. With the continuation of prominent information breaks, a large number of which were brought about by tradeoffs for long term certifications, it’s vital that associations control, oversee, and screen special access to their systems to relieve these hazards. The discoveries of this report disclose to us that many organizations can’t sufficiently deal with the hazard identified. Instead, it needs special attention beyond the ordinary. Insider ruptures, regardless of whether they are malevolent or inadvertent, can possibly go undetected for quite a long time. Months or years of this practice can crush an organization. When it comes to insiders and outsiders, businesses must be extra careful to not disclose any unnecessary information. It is not always evident which entities are reliable sources. In a situation of doubt, it is always better to side on the side of safety for precautionary reasons.

Why You Shouldn’t Trust a Fitness Tracker to Monitor Your Workout Progress

A recent study by Stanford University scientists has found out that most fitness trackers in the market can only be used to measure heart rate but not the amount of calories burnt during a workout. This means that you need to exercise caution when it comes to buying and using these devices. As a result, you are advised against using fitness trackers to judge what you eat.

This study has jolted the technological world. There have been calls for companies that manufacture fitness trackers release data indicating how their gadgets work out measurements. During the study, the accuracy of 7 fitness trackers was tested with 60 participants being asked to run, cycle, and walk. In the end, it was established that six of the seven fitness trackers could only estimate wearers’ heart rates. The six are the Apple Watch, Basis Peak, Fitbit Surge, Microsoft Band, MIP Alpha 2, Samsung Gear S2, and PulseOn.

Glaring Discrepancies

Only five devices were able to keep track of the participants’ energy use. Nonetheless, their measurements were still inaccurate because none of them had an error rate lower than 20%. The study’s coordinator Dr. Euan Ashley from Stanford’s department of cardiovascular medicine points out that fitness enthusiasts ought to be aware of the limitations and strengths of fitness devices before buying them.

Dr. Ashley further adds that those who use these gadgets should know that what they get are only rough estimates but not the actual energy expenditure. This is not only dangerous but also deceiving. For instance, you might engage in a workout and think that you have lost 400 calories. As a result, you may relax thinking that you have 400 calories to play around with. This can particularly be an issue more so among people who tend to base their diets basing on what they think they might have burnt off in their workouts.

In as much as technology for monitoring heart rate has improved, little can be said of the effectiveness of gadgets that purport to measure individual’s energy expenditure. This may have been caused by failure by companies to use heart rates. Besides this, there is a huge difference when it comes to energy expenditure among individuals. Therefore, a single parameter cannot be used to measure the amount of calories burnt during a workout.

Solar Energy Employment Towers Over US Economy

In a recent report from IREA, 2016 saw employment within the solar energy field spiking 17 times as fast as the economy of the United States. In total, more than a quarter billion people work for the solar industry, an increase of nearly 25 percent from 2015’s statistics. This boom in the solar industry can be attributed to reducing costs and recently-renewed federal tax credits that make it easy for homeowners and businesses to install panels. While growth in renewable energy has slightly slowed in Japan and Europe, IRA expects global employment in the renewable energies will reach 24 million by 2030.

Bryan Birsic, CEO of Wunder Capital, a company that finances the installation of solar panels, remarked that solar is one of the few remaining high-pay jobs for blue-collar workers that have no knowledge of computer coding. Birsic added that solar is labor-intensive due to the relative ease of acquiring sunlight; costs can be focused on paying workers to install, produce and sell panels. While most solar jobs are in installation, every facet of the industry is seeing various gains. While men hold most of solar’s jobs, women are growing in prevalence; 28% of the solar industry consists of women.

Growing awareness of climate change and its effects on the planet have also played a factor in this solar boom. Elon Musk has contributed by having his company, Tesla, offer solar roofs comprised of shingles; the solar shingles are intended to diminish the aesthetic complaints of normal panels while providing the same energy output to homes. The wind industry has also seen an employment rise of 28 percent, with nearly one-fourth of its 102,000 jobs occupied by manufacturers.

While the solar and wind industries have continued to improve and strengthen, especially as solar energy’s production cost has halved in the last five years, the coal industry is spiraling into trouble. Nearly half of all US coal jobs have vanished since 2011; Kentucky has lost more than 60 percent. In an effort to appease the people who voted him into power, the 45th president has signed orders to bust regulatory issues that affect the coal industry. Despite Trump’s efforts, the coal industry will likely continue to falter due to the availability of cheap natural gas.
